Nikhil Dally has an innovative early-years music education program, Stepping Notes, which includes specially commissioned gamelan-based instruments, including a slentho with 3 keys, a demung with 5 keys, and a saron with 8 keys, with diatonic pitches. Additional keys for the demung and saron were ordered so that some pitches could be replaced to play different songs.
